Tree Planting Day in Need of Volunteers

The Woodlands Development Co., and is part of an overall effort to reforest the township, get beneficial plants into the ground and attract pollinators. The township has been getting seedlings from the (Woodlands) Development Co. after its Arbor Day event.  The tree event will be focused on the planting of “thousands of native trees, wildflowers and milkweed plants,” with flora varying in size from seedlings to shrubs and small trees in 30-gallon pots. The event is a collaboration between The Woodlands Township, Centerpoint Energy, Trees for Houston and The Howard Hughes Corp. Anyone interested in volunteering is required to pre-register for the event. There is no age restriction, but volunteers should be prepared for some physical labor as well as outdoor conditions. When: 8 a.m-noon, Saturday, Feb. 9, Where: Spindle Tree Ponds Park, located inside the Village of Sterling Ridge, Volunteers must park along either Springtime Creek Drive or May Valley Drive. For more information: Call 281-210-3800.
